Apache Trail Park

This is another park that I've driven by several times, but have never taken my kids to. I always figured that it was designed for older kids, and it is, but I'm forgetting how old my own kids are getting. They did great with everything, as long as I was there to help. This would be a great park to go to as a family, especially with two parents to help small kids out on various stuff. I kept getting called in different directions to help Deano and Andrew out with different things. This would not be a great park to plan a playgroup or anything in which adults would want to talk while kids played, unless the kids were all older.

This park had a nice grassy field and at least one good shade tree. The only problem with that, was the tree was on the other side of the playground from where I kept having to go over to help the bigger boys, so while it was wonderful being able to leave Isaac to play on a blanket, I did end up carrying him around with me a lot just because I didn't want to be so far away from him.

Deano called this the giant-worm-teeter-totter. All in all, that's a pretty good description. They had a lot of fun crawling back and forth across it, or just sitting on it begging me to bounce it up and down for them.

This picture also shows the pavilion with a BBQ, and a picnic table. Could definitely make for a fun family outing.

This is where the boys spent the most time. They called this the "big spider web castle," and they were pretending to be spiders crawling around on the ropes. They kept asking me to put Isaac in it to be the fly for them to eat. I would hold Isaac on a rope for a second, and that made them happy.

I did have to climb up and rescue Andrew twice, he is still just a little too small to be climbing on this thing alone. He still had tons of fun though.

In my mind at least, this was more like a teeter-totter than the other one, but Deano kept calling it a bell, and sitting on one side and asking me to pull the bell on the other side. Neither of boys could get up alone, and Andrew also kept getting a little scared and wanting me to help him get down too, although he could get down alone if he wanted to.

There was another mom there with her son, who was probably about 8 years old or so, and they had a lot of fun on this thing; much more-so than my little boys. They just aren't quite big enough to be able to go as high or as fast. That's okay though, it was still fun.

So all in all, this was a fun park, and I'm sure it'll get better as my kids get a bit older. I think there are a lot of parks like that in this town, but it'll give them something to look forward to.
