We used to come to this park fairly often. Not only was it within easy walking distance of our old apartment, but it's proximity to the church building made it ideal for playgroups when we weren't sure what the weather was going to be like. So if it turned out too cold, rainy, or snowy we could always go in the church, or if we planned for the church and it turned out to be a nice day, we could always just go to the park instead. It's not one of my favorite parks though.
Deano had some fun pretending he was in jail
The kids went up and down the slide a few times
Deano climbed up this ladder-thingy with no trouble, but when Andrew tried, he got stuck at the top and couldn't reach the platform. He decided to climb back down, then told me that this was for big boys. I think that's a major trouble with this park. A lot of the things on the playground (like this ladder, or the ridiculously high monkey bars) are designed for older kids, but there's not a whole lot to it, as though it were designed for younger kids. The older kids would get bored, and the little kids can't even do everything.
Andrew decided that this side was easier to climb up, although I remember both he and Deano really struggled with it last summer.
There was a little pavilion with a picnic table, which was nice. Andrew sat at the table for a minute, but I spent most of my time on the grass in the shade of the pavilion.
Just as my kids had gone through everything there was to do on the playground and were starting to get bored, friends showed up, which makes everything so much more interesting, and all the toys seem new again. And I guess I was proven wrong with my earlier assessment, the older kids didn't find the playground quite as boring as I had expected.
There is also a nice big field that we played frisbee on for a bit. All in all though, it's just not all that exciting. It's not horrible, but there isn't really anything that makes it special in my mind. When choosing a park to go to, this is never at the top of my list, but if I have some reason to come here, it's not awful.
