Castle Rock Park

Not having a clue where or what the Castle Rock Park was, I looked it up to see what I could find. The description that I got was: "Castle Rock Park is a 5 acre community park located at 640 West Third North. This park has a variety of recreational opportunities including a soccer field and track. Castle Rock Park is in a central location for Green River residents and is easy to access from Flaming Gorge Way.   Amenities: Soccer field, Jogging path, ¼ mile track for walking, jogging, and exercising." So I was picturing a big field with maybe a path around it... that's pretty much exactly what it is. I did have some trouble finding it initially. I came upon it from one side, but I figured it was part of Washington Elementary School. Finally after nearly giving up and just going to a different park, I came upon it from the other side and saw the sign. Thank goodness for signs.
Dean told me later that this is actually the old Lincoln football field, apparently the schools in this city have moved around quite a bit.

Because of the path, I thought it might be a good idea to bring the boys' bikes. It was, but instead of riding around the outside of the field, they found a strip (for long jump maybe?) and raced up and down that over and over again.

I put Isaac in a stroller and we walked around the track a couple of times. It's not what you would have expected for a track, especially one around an old school football field. It was all asphalt. but it was still fine. The boys did ride around the loop with me once, and had a good time. At one point a guy showed up on an ATV and started riding around the loop. I didn't really think that was particularly safe with my boys riding bikes there, so we were about to leave, but he left after just one time around.
Deano, in typical Deano fashion, decided that instead of riding the bike he'd rather just flip it over and play with it.  Such a silly kid.

I  brought a football, a soccer ball, and a frisbee with us to give the kids something to do, since there wasn't any sort of playground, but the bikes kept them happy, and they weren't interested in those at all. Isaac however had lots of fun chewing on the frisbee.

I really need to get Andrew a new bike. He's getting too big for this little trike. Around the track, he just couldn't get that little thing to go fast enough to keep up, so he came back to the strip to ride on that.

After a while, some other people came and started playing football. we didn't stay too long after that. I suppose this park is good for what it is, but if I want to take my kids out to go ride bikes, I'll more likely take them to the green belt down by the river, or the island.
