Centennial Park

We've been to this park just a couple of times before when the boys were younger, and it was a bit ridiculous. All they cared about was going down the slide, but they couldn't get up without considerable help. I was worried that it would be the same this time, but they've grown a lot, and did alright. They've also expanded their interests a bit, so their focus wasn't only on the slide.

This is the castle. Deano begged me to climb up and be the princess. He was the king, and Andrew was a prince. Isaac sat in his stroller and stood guard as a knight from the bottom.

Then they were trapped in a tower dungeon, and I was supposed to come rescue them.

I wish I had caught the picture about a second and a half after this moment. Andrew stood up to avoid a small puddle at the bottom of the slide, when Deano came hurtling down knocking the legs out from under Andrew, and they landed at the bottom of the slide in a heap. It was hilarious, and I'm just glad that no one got hurt.

There were a lot of fun different things to do

They loved this hammock.

After a while I was finally able to drag them away from the playground to go check out the rest of the park. It's nice. Lots of big trees, flower beds, statues, benches, and a large gazebo with some picnic tables.

The boys wanted to smell all of the flowers

This just seemed like a good place to take pictures

They found a bird's egg that had fallen out of a tree. They were very sad at the thought that the baby bird had died. They wanted to take it home with them, but I guess being the mean parent I am, I wouldn't let them. They were devastated.

I've been told that people rent out this park for special events like weddings and the like. It is pretty. I don't know that this would be my favorite park to just go and play at though. I felt like I was constantly on edge when Andrew was climbing on the castle, and besides that, there's not a whole lot to play on. There is a nice field, but I wouldn't want to bring a ball or anything because I would be worried about kids trampling flowers or something. It's great for a little nature walk type thing with little kids though, they enjoyed it. And I do love the big trees. There aren't that many huge trees in Green River, but this park has some of the biggest I've seen here.
This isn't my favorite park to take little kids to, but we have a few times just because of where it is. It's right next to the courthouse, the DMV, the police department, all of those city buildings. I have taken the kids here to take a break from running errands, it's just convenient. Plus there's a bathroom here which is always a plus when it comes to parks, especially when you have a potty training child.
