I forgot to take a picture of the sign for this park... but later I decided that it really doesn't matter because no one calls this park Collier park. This is the Rainbow park. I have never once heard someone call this park Collier park except to clarify for someone who has never been here before, and to let them know that it is the Rainbow park.
The Rainbow park is easily the most requested park by my children, and when I told them where we were going, there were cheers. This park seems to have everything:
tubes to crawl through,
stuff to climb on,
a bouncy bridge,
several different slides for children of all ages,
a pirate ship wheel,
holes to peek out of,
a zip-line type thingy,
a tic-tac-toe game,
monkey bars,
trees to climb (and to give some good shade),
a nice hill to roll down (or sled down in the winter),
swings (although no baby swings),
a nice bench swing, (as well as other benches for parents to sit on while watching kids),
and a dead bird... although this isn't usually here, it led to an interesting conversation with Andrew about life and death.
There is also a cement pad my boys like to draw with chalk on, several picnic tables in different places in the park, a baseball field complete with bleachers, a soccer field, a basketball court, a pavilion with more picnic tables and grills, a bike/skate park, and bathrooms. The park bathrooms are often locked, but the senior citizen center is right there too, so people often go in the back door to use the bathroom in there, although that was locked today too. I don't think I've ever even been to the other half of this park, I had to go up over the hill today just to see what was over there. That might be the biggest problem with the park in my mind at least: it's too big! My kids sometimes wander off and figure that it's fine because they're still in the park, but with the hills and such, I can't see the entire park all the time. Maybe the people who use the other parts of this park call it Collier park, especially over by the skate park, because that's where the sign is; but as far as the playground goes, this is the Rainbow park.
